PIAA Notes - Day One - Thursday, March 9, 2006

The big buzz was Garrett Scott vacating the 140-pound weight class due to violating school policy .

Donnie Ament of Mount Pleasant with his 10-1 preliminary win etched his name into PIAA history by winning #176 to become the all-time wins leader.

Glenn Shober, Schuylkill Valley, won his 150th in the AA prelims.

Ashtin Primus of Connellsville didn't let fellow WPIAL wrestler Donnie Ament hold the record for most PIAA wins for long as the AAA 140-pounder nailed his 176th win, tying Ament with 176 wins.  Primus scored a fall over his preliminary opponent in 1:58 putting him at 122 career falls. Mark Smith of Upper Perkiomen holds the PIAA record with 124 deck jobs.t

Day Two, Friday, March 10,2006

It wasn't easy, but Donnie Ament won #177 to take the lead in most PIAA wins with an 8-6 OT decision over Beau Fisher of Grove City.

And then.. Ashtin Primus caused a logjam again in this two-man race for the PIAA most career wins with a Fall in 1:00 over State College's Steve Bosak.

Ament lost a narrow decision in the semis to Dan Konno of NW Lehigh, but came back to post win # 178 in the consys.

Special greetings to Dave Ackley, our usual notes reporter. Dave is recupping from a auto accident.
