Following the match, Reynolds coach Brian
Hills exclaimed, "We expect to be here. Our goals are pretty simple. We want
to win everything we wrestle in. Our kids are proud of the tradition of the
Reynolds program. We have some strong teams in Mercer County. Commodore Perry
and Mercer also are nice teams and may have deserved to be here, but they
(District 10 officials) aren't going to take more than two teams from one
league. I'm pleased with the way we wrestled. We wrestled well against Mercer
last night and even better tonight. We've got to wrestle even better if we
meet Juniata (in the first round of the PIAA State Duals) next week (Feb. 7).
I saw improvement in all of our matches tonight (compared with their last
meeting with Hickory nearly 2 weeks ago). But we can do better. We're still
looking for that perfect match."
Hickory mentor Carl Wombacker appraised the event by saying, "They outwrestled
us. They're a better team. I hope they win state. I'm glad we were able to
have two teams from the county in the finals. We're improving. Last year we
made it here, but lost in the semis. This year, we took one more step."
